Residencias del Rio Pueblo

A Secluded New Community

Inspired by the spirit of one of the nation’s oldest villages, Residencias del Rio Pueblo is a planned, in-town community of pueblo style houses bordering the sacred river of the Taos Pueblo Indians.  This environmentally-friendly compound includes 21 condominium town homes in a private, park-like setting less than a mile from the Taos Plaza.

There are five different floor plans, ranging in size from 1283 to 1882 sq. ft., and each has its own unique character and views, include historic interior details such as vigas and latilla ceilings, saltillo tile flooring, kiva fireplaces, hand-carved wooden columns, lintels, and portales. Adobe-style construction with stuccoed exteriors include sheltered and individual walled courtyards that owners landscape to their own tastes.

The entire development is carefully planned to complement the existing natural surroundings.  Towering cottonwood and maple trees – many of which are close to 100 years old – add to the sense that Residencias del Rio Pueblo has been part of the Taos community for years.  The siting of the units was done to conserve as many of the existing trees and native vegetation as possible and this effort has resulted in a feeling of intimacy and privacy throughout the project. Many of the units have spectacular views of the Rio Pueblo, surrounding pastoral fields and some of Taos Mountain from second stories.

The design and construction of the homes made use of non-toxic, environmentally-safe materials and sealants, have high levels of insulation for heating and cooling and superior sound insulation.  Residencias del Rio Pueblo is a retreat, a refuge and a home for its residents.

The community was built by Up Front Construction, one of Taos’ finest construction companies.
